Everyone is welcome to visit Florida and we will have a MINI meet for you. Hopefully in 2004 we can have a Florida-Germany MINI meet.

Blinker means blinker in English. :D Same as repeater or "turn signal". I thought about white, but like the orange against the blue.
Rally NUMMERN. Not off-road rallys, but just group street rallys or convoys (Corso).

Hey everyone. I too, am one of the Florida Freaks :reddevil: I took German in HS... placed first in my HS Language Competition in German Grammer and Vocab. Boy... that was a long time ago.
Here's a pic of my MINI... aka Dolly... This weekend I'm painting her calipers, putting on a sweet set of rims I bought from a fellow MINI Freak, and adding the Euro Plate. :)

Well, in North Florida we're getting some gusty winds but that's it. North Carolina and Va. will get the storm it looks like. They are predicting it will only be a weak Category 2 by land fall. Not to bad for a Hurricane.
Germans beware! Gleep (aka Andy) our webmaster will be traveling to your country in November it looks like. I believe he will be in the Frankfurt area. Maybe some of you guys can meet up with him?
as I posted in the :strahl:-forum.. it's only 1,5 hours from myplace..so I'llbe around when he comes.. :)
(maybe some frankfurters could play"cab" for him at the airport.. so he doesn't feel alienated.. :D

Wish I was going with him (would love to see Frankfurt again) but I have a new baby due in December so no traveling for me. I think the wife might get upset if I was out having fun during her last month of pregnancy. Maybe next time.

What happened to the Chapter North thread?
Can I buy a Chapter North T-shirt or trade a Sunshine MINIs one for it when we get them made?
JamesChapter North has been moved sideways to its own folder - to allow for sub-threads with individual topics.
Therefore it should be easier to keep an overview of the different discussions and events :) (there were a lot of discussions yesterday about required changes to the board 8O
When we get organised with new T-shirts, we shall let you know - a T-Shirt trade program is a MUST ;)

Was there any interesting MINI news from the Frankfurt Motor Show?
So far I know of two visits by Chapter North to Florida:
1. November 2 - ? - Heffernan, Freshman, (and others?)
2. December - Tina
Any others?
There have been so many T-shirt requests. I will put them in when the shirts are ordered. Then we will decide how to exchange.
That's all. Just a warm Hello to my online German friends.

Was there any interesting MINI news from the Frankfurt Motor Show?Hi James, firstly thanks in advance for your delivery, I am looking forward to it http://www.cheesebuerger.de/smilies/lustig/24.gif (as you can see, today is a special smilies day in Chapter North).
There was no real Mini news at the show, but the only interesting things I saw were:
1) The pepper white/black Cooper S, which looked really great also with black bonnet stripes,
2) The full length sunroof that now seems to be available (news to me, at least), in addition to the previous glass roof,
3) The JCW seats - which were really comfortable, unless they are too small for you, or if you want to sit in the back ;)
Apart from that, the stand was really full :(

Chapter Florida is very quiet.
I put some photos in the Album. They show my MINI "Howard" next to my brother-in-law's Hummer H2. The biggest car on the American road versus the smallest. The Hummer H2 costs about $65,000, by the way. Do you have Hummers in Germini?

I know which one I'd rather have too. I wouldn't trade the MINI for the Hummer. I do hope to have it the next time he goes out of town. I think after one only day I will want to be back in the MINI again. And my next car will be even smaller than the MINI. I plan to buy a classic Mini as soon as I sell my pickup truck (another type of vehicle you don't ever see in Europe).
Pritch, go ahead and spell it "tyre". I'm a big Anglophile and understand your English. :D I have visited both the UK and Germany and I'd love to live in either place. I lean towards England only because my English is much besser als meine Deutsch. Fortunately, both places have libraries which is where I work.
Now, if I could find a pretty German girl to marry me, I could stay in Germini... 8O

I want to buy an iPAQ PDA with GPS for the MINI. I know it won't hook into the MINI's computer, but I want to mount it on the dash like the MINI PDA (on www.mini.com/pda). Can you buy the mount in Germany and how much does it cost? We don't get it here in the US.
Thanks!

Yes, the one which fits the MINI and mounts above the speedometer. I've seen a part number from the UK, but heard they weren't available there.
Also, it seems that the HP iPAQ 3000 Series are discontinued. Any idea which iPAQ model MINI is replacing it with? I'm looking at a 2215 or 4155. I just want one which I can add GPS and has Bluetooth.

Stan, job market in J-ville is pretty strong. Lots of jobs in banking, mortgage companies and insurance companies among others.

Absolutely perfect weather today in Orlando. Both windows down and the sunroof open. It's almost like a convertible.

Sorry to hear about the cold in Hamburg. Everyone should come visit us in Florida.

Good morning minimotorin!
uuuh, come on!? Do you really like the Mini convertable? The rear and the roll bars look horrible. BMW's supervising engineers should have some more pleasant ideas ontheir working desks. Do you know the Smart Roadster? When you have 2 other cars ( everyday life capable ) at home this one is very fine and sportive for little cruisings.
Insurance? Hmmm? I spent the last 7 years in outside sales and changed in july the side of the desk - fortunatly. It means i'm responsible for the service purchase coordination in a big container shipping company in Hamburg. In our schedule we offer a service to Miami as well but our US main office is located in Piscataway. And finally in the north the weather will be very similar to the weather here in Germany...
Nice weekend - Stan
minimotorin
17.10.2003, 18:54
Yea Stan, the MINI convertable looks like it still needs some work. I'll hold out hope that it improves before release, of course there is always the Lotus Elise convertable that hits the market here in 05.
Jacksonville is a pretty big port town and typically it doesn't get too cold in the winter here.
Have a good weekend German folks and don't freeze anything off in the cold. (I've been there in February and know it gets way cold. I stepped out onto a train platform in Worgel and my video camera started to freeze up it was so cold. brrrr)

Ask your question on the Sunshine MINIs forum:
http://www.sunshineminis.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=37
Or check out the Tampa Bay Area MINIs website at:
http://www.bayminis.com
The people in that area will probably do something while you are visiting.

Hello everyone!
MINIS OF ORLANDO held an event today called Motoring the Mouse 2: The Holiday Edition. We met at the Columbia restaurant in downtown Celebration, Florida, near Disney World. We had a delicious Cuban dinner and gave out prizes donated by Mini Mania. After dinner, we lined up the Minis/MINIs and motored around Celebration and Disney World to view the holiday lights. Have a look at my photos at http://www.minisoforlando.org/mtm2
